7 Bible verses and Pointers to overcome Worry and Anxiety

1) Worry and Anxiety will not improve your situation in any way

Matthew 6:27 - Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

2) God is carrying you always. So, whether you carry your cares or cast them over Him, there will be no difference in His load. Be wise and cast your cares on Him.

1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

3) Our first response to anxious thoughts should be prayer. We should not rush to make things work on own own, before seeking God. We are called to depend on God for everything and work with Him, not apart from Him.

Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

4) Your life is so precious to worry about your basic needs. Your heavenly father knows what you need and will provide for you.

Matthew 6:25-34 - Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than meat, and the body more than raiment?

5) We often fail to appreciate today, as we are too anxious about the future. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, but if God has it for us, He is already there. When we came into this world, we came vulnerable, having no provision, financial or any other form of security of our own. If God has brought us this far and saved us for eternity, He will lead us for the rest of our lives as well.

Matthew 6:34 - Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

6) Worry, fear and anxiety pop up for a wide variety of reasons, fear of whatother people would think, fear of losing things or people etc. If we believe in the Lord God who shut the mouth of lions, parted the red sea and loves His people with an everlasting love, we have no need of fear.

Psalms 27:1 - (A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

7) Don't waste your time worrying about things you have no control over. Our job is to love God with all our heart and to keep His commandments. It is God's job to make all things work for our ultimate good.

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
